Welcome trackers!

With the increasing attention in fields relying on microscopy, such as biology or medicine, the need for single-camera evaluation is larger than ever. Defocusing-based particle tracking requires only a microscope and a computer and can allow for a range of applications such as for the measurement of fluid velocities in microcapillaries or for the tracking of the positions of swimming microbes.

The ambition of this website is to create a community of method users and developers, and it relies on four pillars:

  • DefocusTracker, an open-source, collaborative, modular software package for 3D particle tracking (available in MATLAB, under development in Python).
  • Datasets of experimental and synthetic test cases to be used to develop new algorithms, compare uncertainty, and optimize settings.
  • Forum for the community to discuss the website content, for giving DefocusTracker support and tips & tricks, and for the exchange of research obtained using the method.
  • Gallery of recent and past research works to promote the beauty of 3D particle tracking and improve the impact of research works obtained with this method.

Have fun on your 3D defocused journey!
